Ultra-fine filtration removes root cause contamination and neutralizes acid formation to guarantee the elimination of varnish and sludge in today’s fluid power systems.

Filtration Case Study

Widely distributed in the United States and Canada, Filmax equipment has been installed on critical transformer voltage regulator equipment/load tap changers to increase reliability and reduce unplanned outages. The Power Distribution market refers to the varnish as filming and sludge as coking. Filmax has been effectively eliminating varnish and sludge in the power industry for over fifteen years.

In 1996, a case study was performed at Nevada Power Company because maintenance was required on voltage regulators or load tap changers every six months. Below, you will see before filtration was used, internal components are covered with a film of varnish greatly increasing maintenance frequency.

Sludge Elimination After 4,200 internal operations Filmax prevented the slightest accumulation of sludge.

Filmax Filtration prevented the formation of varnish for Nevada Power Company allowing them to increase the reliability of their Distribution System. What was once a required extensive maintenance event is now a four year maintenance inspection.
