This guide will help you select the right tool for managing your oil
analysis program. If you are selecting for multiple locations in
a company wide program, remember that you can easily mix and match
mylab access with WinRoast®. For example, if some locations only
handle a small number of samples and does not do data analysis, you
can select mylab for those sites and WinRoast for the others.
Combine this with WinRoast Enterprise for the head office where your
lubrication expert can use it for company wide analysis and tracking.
See our "What WinRoast Data
Replication can do for you" white paper for more information
on how WinRoast's unique replication features let you do this.
WinRoast® Advantages:
| Work Offline |
WinRoast stores your oil analysis data locally and can be used where communications are not continuously available. Only a few minutes of communication time is required to synchronize with the lab and other WinRoast sites. |
| Fast |
As WinRoast does not need to be on-line to be used and your data is locally stored, this makes working in WinRoast fast. There are no delays while web pages load. |
| Low bandwidth |
WinRoast does not require a high-speed connection to be used effectively for a medium or large site. A simple modem or dial-up Internet access will still allow you to work at the speed of your computer. |
| Analyze Data |
WinRoast is more capable of helping you to analyze your oil analysis data. WinRoast has advanced graphing, reporting, data search, and export capabilities. |
| Custom Flagging |
WinRoast allows you to set your own flagging levels. |
| Sample Scheduling |
WinRoast includes an advanced sample scheduling system. |
| Sample Batching |
WinRoast allows you to quickly enter a recurring batch of samples. |
| Maintenance Integration |
WinRoast can correlate maintenance information and display it with your oil analysis results. Maintenance and oil change activity can be shown on trend graphs. |
| Report Writer |
Advanced reporting allows WinRoast to be customized to the way you work. |
myLab Advantages:
| Web Site |
No Software to install. You can get up and running quickly and easily. |
| Secure |
myLab only uses Java applets, which run in a secure sandbox and are limited in the control of your computer. Note that some web sites, specifically ones that use ActiveX controls, require you to download and install those components, which have the same privileges as the person using the computer. This is equivalent to installing software. |
| Wide Access |
Easy access from any computer with a web browser. myLab does not restrict you to Internet Explorer on Windows. Java is required for graphing. |

- Which equipment has water and fuel problems?
- Can I safely extend your oil drains or do I need more information first?
- What percentage of one equipment model runs with under 35 ppm of copper? Or, at what ppm of copper does 99% of these run under?
- What flags limits can I set with the data I've collected?
- When you deal with a medium or large number of samples (roughly 150 to 300 or more per year).
