Who we are

At Fluid Life, we’re a forward-thinking team of condition monitoring and reliability experts, helping industries across North America maximize equipment uptime and performance.

Proudly independently owned and operated for over 40 years, we’ve grown to support clients across Canada and the U.S., with over 100 employees and four fully equipped facilities. Our deep roots in fluid analysis—including lubricants, coolants, fuels, filters, and specialty fluids—have evolved into a comprehensive offering of reliability services.

We don’t just test samples. We deliver insights—providing expert evaluations, actionable recommendations, and fast follow-ups to prove impact and value.

Our History

Starting out in 1981 as a small Edmonton lab with one major contract in the mining industry, we have grown to over 100 employees with four state-of-the-art labs providing reliability and laboratory services to multiple industries across North America.

1981- 1994

1981

Industra-Lube Testing Laboratories founded by Devar Chisholm in Edmonton, AB.

1983

Larry Dick joined the company.

1989

Remote Oil Analysis Services (ROAST), the precursor to myLab, was launched.

1991

Oil Check lab purchased.

1992

Industra-Lube Testing Laboratories rebranded to Fluid Life.

1993

Larry Dick takes over as president of Fluid Life.

1995-2014

2001

Brantford, ON lab opened.

2006

myLab web application introduced.

2010

Bloomington, MN lab opened.

2011

Larry Dick retires, Heather Nichols takes over as President.
CARE service introduced.

2014

Sample Rank™ launched, providing automated scoring of test samples to simplify test review.

2015-2024

New Edmonton, AB offices and state-of-the-art laboratory opened.
